5 Netflix Shows + Movies You Should Be Watching

July 6, 2017

What am I going to be doing this summer holiday? Why, working and watching tv shows of course. Primarily, I’m going to be watching game of thrones and the new season of team wolf – but everybody knows about those. Let’s talk about some tv shows that need a little more recognition.

JAWBREAKER. I have a thing for old high school movies, you might have noticed; especially ones that feature mean girls and murder. I feel as though this is such an underrated movie. Sure, it might seem a little superficial at some times, but the storyline isn’t that bad and the mix of characters is actually pretty good! It’s definitely something worth checking out if you like movies like Heathers or the Breakfast club.

THE CRAFT. This one might not be something you would watch again, but it’s a memorable experience. Once again, it’s set in high school but this time it features a whole lot of dark magic and the characters are mayhem personified. The effects are a little fake, but I adored the entire cast. It’s pretty dark, it might be considered a little old fashioned and fake in comparison to today’s movies, but it’s on my list of favourites for sure.

BLACK MIRROR. This show is deep. It makes you think about people, technology and the meaning of life – all the while managing to keep you entertained and on your toes. My particular favourite is Hated in the Nation, which deals with public shaming and group think. Have you ever wondered about the consequences of joining in on an online witch hunt? Now you will.

THE 100. You might have read the book but trust me, the show is 100x better. Where the book lacks, the show picks up – and it does it magnificently. One issue that I do have with it though, is the toxic fandom that the show has. Apart from teen wolf, it honestly has some of the most toxic stans. They all hate each other, death threats get sent to the show’s writers and the anti tags are over flowing.

KILLJOYS. If there’s ever been a severely underrated show, this is it. The main character is a kick ass woman of colour named Dutch, whose joined with her rag tag crew of bounty hunters. It follows them in their journey in which they try to stay out of politics, but inevitably end up in the middle of an upcoming intergalactic war. There’s explosions, gun fights and mutants galore – so check it out!

Do you have any netflix recommendations? I can’t promise that I’ll get to them, but I’ll definitely try!

I’m going to watch Jawbreaker now! If you haven’t watched Dexter or Making a Murderer those are definitely my favorites. 🙂

I’ve been trying to start Dexter for a while now! The concept of a serial killer, only killing bad people is so intriguing to me. Haven’t heard of Making a Murderer, but that title has already sucked me in 😀

Oh my goodness, Jawbreaker and The Craft are so old! Brings back memories. haha I’ll have to watch those again soon. I gave up on The 100 a while ago >.< But I want to watch Black Mirror. I haven't seen many people talk about it but I'm glad you liked it 🙂

They’re dinosaurs! I can totally see why you gave up on the 100, season 3 really wasn’t very good. The only reason I stuck with it was wishful thinking and hope that the story would get better. In my opinion, it does get a little better in season 4, but we’ll wait and see for season 5! Black mirror is amazing – it’s super versatile and the stories are intelligent. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!

I need to start Black Mirror soon, heard fantastic things about it! There`s so many shows I watch on Netflix, it`s ridiculous. I recently started Grimm and absolutely love it.

Black Mirror is fantastic! I think I’ve watched a couple of episodes of Grimm, and from what I remember – I really enjoyed it!

We watched the first episode of Black Mirror but for some reason haven’t continued. I just finished watching Girlboss and that was really fun!

Ooh I started the first episode of Girlboss but I haven’t found the time to continue yet. Have you read the book?

I’m so excited for the new season of Game of Thrones! I can’t believe it’s so close now 🙂
And I haven’t watched any of these, so I’ll definitely have to give them a go. I’ve been meaning to watch The 100 for ages, because I’ve heard great things about it, so hopefully I’ll get to it soon. Personally, I’ve just watched the final episode of Pretty Little Liars (and I really recommend that series if you haven’t already watched it! Especially if you like stuff set in high schools) and I’m in the middle of the new series of Orange Is The New Black 🙂

YES! I’m so hyped for the next couple of episodes of Game of Thrones. It’s all moving a little fast for me, but I can appreciate it all the same. The leaks are a little upsetting though! Honestly, I thought you were going to say that you’ve heard so many terrible things about the 100 because everywhere I look, people seem to be dragging it for one thing or another. I’ve tried pretty little liars, but I think school got in the way – and it was just too long for me to commit to! Maybe I’ll be more open to watching it now that the season has finished.
