Going Through My Goodreads

August 26, 2017

It’s time to unhaul! I have way too many books on my shelves at home, but I’m overseas right now so I’m going to focus on my online shelves instead. I have way too many books on my TBR shelf than I know what to do with. I can’t even remember adding half of them to it! This is a post inspired by Annie.

The Yellow Wallpaper and Other Stories: I think this was put on my tbr because of rave recommendations by teachers; a teacher that I had two years ago. If I haven’t read a school recced book by now, I don’t think I’m ever going to get to it. Sorry! REMOVED

The Ninth Life of Louis Drax: This has recently found it’s way onto myself, and while it may not be something that I’m extremely excited about – nah, actually I’ve read the first two chapters and it really doesn’t seem like my kind of thing. I’m probably going to be selling it. REMOVED

Tall Tales with Short Cocks Vol. 2: Wha – I have absolutely no idea what this is. It was probably my 2015 self trying to be edgy. Sorry mum. REMOVED

The Beautiful Wishes of Ugly Men: This appears to be a book about men, written by men? I can’t fathom why I would ever truly want to read that, so I’m just going to assume that I thought this book was about something else. Perhaps I thought it was going to be feminist in nature, although there are some very negative reviews from people who appear to be feminists so um, yeah. I have no idea what this is. REMOVED

Liars, Inc: This actually still seems pretty interesting. I mean lying for a career? It’s like being a politician without all of the pretense (as ironic as that might sound). It’s also a young adult thriller which, along with horror, I’m definitely trying to read more of. KEPT

The Lost Sun: This doesn’t sound too bad at all, it just isn’t something that I’m interested in my current stage of life. I also think that I added it because there was a giveaway for it going on – and when there is a giveaway sometimes books just have to be ‘okay’ because you know, they’re free. REMOVED

A History of Glitter and Blood: Ugh, this cover is gorgeous. I’m considering keeping in on here just for that, but I suppose we have to look at the content as well. Shannon from It Starts at Midnight has written a review for it and it sounds amazing. That’s enough for me. KEPT

Damage Done: I just spoiled myself when I was reading the reviews for this, so I’m trying my hardest to forget that I ever looked it up on goodreads. Apart from that it sounds incredibly interesting. KEPT

Blood and Salt: Doesn’t the title just draw you in? This is a young adult horror, and you know that I’m trying to read more of these.KEPT

Ash & Bramble: I’m all down for dark fairy tale retellings. The cover might not look like this is anything but a vanilla cinderella story, but from the reviews it appears that it’s a lot darker than it might seem. KEPT

The Creeping: “If you hunt for monsters, you’ll find them.” Ooooh yes, give me some of that. I cant even remember adding this to my TBR, so it must not of had a huge affect on me back then, but it sounds really interesting? Also horror, as stated before, is something that I want to get more into. KEPT

I Am Her Revenge: The reviews for this are criticizing the mum in the story and saying that it’s unrealistic. I mean sure, maybe she might not be the average Mary Sue, but it certainly makes for an interesting story. Or blurb. The book definitely sounds enticing whatever I mean. KEPT

I went through my TBR a couple months ago and purged a lot of books. I just knew there were books on there that I added because of hype but weren’t really interested in, or just didn’t feel excited about anymore. It does feel good! And it makes room for new books!

It feels amazing! There are so many books that sound good at the time, but can be overhyped or no longer fit your style. I’m glad that you went through it!
